The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) command in Katsina state said two persons lost their lives in road accidents during the Sallah celebration in the state.
The Commander of the corps in the state, Alhaji Umar Galadima, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Katsina that 11 other persons sustained injuries in the incidents during the period.
He said that 23 persons were involved in the road accidents across the state during the celebrations, and attributed the cases to reckless driving, speeding and wrong overtaking by motorists.
He stated that the command had deployed officers and men on night and day ‘’special patrols’’ to reduce accidents on the highways.
He appealed to motorists to avoid the habit of route violation and carrying passengers in boots of vehicles.
