The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has asked Nigerians who registered between April and December 2017 during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from its local government offices and designated registration centres from 21st May.
According to a statement signed by Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, the Director, Voter Education and Publicity (VEP), the decision was taken at the meeting the Commission had with its Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) on 10th May in Abuja.
All those who applied for transfers or replacement of their lost or damaged PVCs are also entitled to collect new ones from that date.
For those that registered in 2018, the Commission assured that their PVCs would be ready in good time before the 2019 General Elections.
It would be recalled that the Commission’s Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu had promised at different fora since February that those who registered in 2017 would be able to collect their PVCs in May. The development underscores the Commission’s determination to provide Nigerians with efficient services.
