The Oyo State Governorship Elections Petitions Tribunal amidst tight security this afternoon dismissed the petition of former governor of the state, Senator Rasheed Ladoja, challenging the election of Chief Abiola Ajimobi as the governor of Oyo State.
Ladoja who was the candidate of Accord Party in the April 11, 2015 election had gone to court to challenge the emergence of Ajimobi of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the governorship election.
The three-man panel headed by Justice Muhammad Aliu Mayaki, and Justices Muhammad Karaye and J.E Ikede as members gave the verdict.
Earlier in the day heavy security was mounted by thousands of armed to the teeth policemen, operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of the State Security Service (DSS), including those on an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC). The security personnels were stationed at the High Court, Iyaganku, Ibadan and adjoining roads.
Also Vehicular and pedestrians movements were fenced off the area while all residential buildings within 60 meters radius of the Isabo high court, the venue of the Tribunal sitting, were also taken over by armed security agents in bids to ensure adequate security around the Court.
